Cycling FAQ

Who will enjoy our bike tours?

We have designed our tours for a wide range of cyclists. From the weekend rider to the avid rider, with a curiosity to explore the most beautiful parts of Denmark and Sweden. These countries have well established bike routes with smooth riding surfaces. You may ride at your own pace and we will regroup at the end of the day at our carefully selected hotels and inns. Our groups are small with a maximum of 15 riders per tour. Our usual group size is 8-12 people. We can also custom design a tour to fit your specifications and experience level. Email us at John@exploreadventures.com or call more information 303.929.8681.

How many miles do we cover in a day?

The average distance traveled is 40-50 miles (65-80 km) per day. There are options every day to incorporate longer or shorter routes. The tours are designed to give a good balance of riding, culure and cuisine in Scandinavia.

What is the terrain like?

Southern Sweden and Denmark are very flat along the coast and have a few rolling hills inland. The landscape is similar to Maine along the coasts and beautiful forests and farmland. The quaint villages we pass through are stunning and our route takes us truly off the beaten path where we will see very few tourists. One of our favorite things about this trip is stopping at the fresh Strawberry and Rasberry farms along the way and talking with the locals about their way of life.

What type of support is available throughout the tour?

We will have full van support, where our luggage will be transported from hotel to hotel. We will also have refreshments in the van, along with necessary tools for potential mechanical problems. And extra tubes, tires and basic supplies. We will have an experienced mechanic riding along with us at all times. Our group leaders are certified in First Aid for your safety.

What are the accommodations like?

We realize that after a full day of riding, sightseeing, and enjoying Scandinavia, we like to stay in comfortable bed and breakfasts and inns. Our staff has made reservations at some of the most comfortable, quaint, and charming places. We select based on their uniqueness, their size (small, no chain hotels), our personal relationship with the owners, and of course the location. Some are restored farmhouses in the countryside built in the 1700s and some are beachfront bed and breakfasts.

Most airlines will allow you to bring your bike with you, but will charge between $100-$250.
